First week in rotterdam

I arrived in Amsterdam, exhausted from my 7 hour plus long flight, at around noon. From the Airport ,Schipol, I hopped on a train beyond for Rotterdam, ready to get to my flat and try to stay awake for the rest of the day. My first three days were basically me trying my absolute best to get over the jet lag which had left me basically incapsitated for those days. Looking back at the 11, 12, 13th I remember almost nothing, outside the desperate search for food/my desperate attempt to force myself to adjust to the time zones. Other than that I did meet my flat mates, they are two very nice people from Singapore, the first full day I was in the Netherlands, the 12th they and a friend made me spaghetti for dinner which I was incredibly thankful for. This was the build up for me to get to the 14th

Introduction days at Erasmus with ESN

The first day of the intro days all of the international students that had chosen to get involved in the intro days were sorted into different groups, I was put into group 7. My group had people from all over the world in it, there was two people from South Korea, one person from China, one person from Singapore, one person from Russia, one person from Turkey, one person from Bulgaria, one person from Slovakia, one person from Norway, one person from France, two people from Ireland, Me, and our two great Dutch leaders. After the brief intros that we all had we moved on to go have Brunch.

I had stamppot which is basically mash potatoes with something mixed into the potatoes. My stamppot had endive mixed into it, and was served with a sausage. Brunch was incredibly good, especially considering that I hadn't eaten very well up to that point. After brunch was over we proceeded to walk around the city, doing a game of sorts, we had to find/do certain things throughout the city in an attempt to get better aquatinted with the city. Things like making a human pyramid, pretend to be really happy in front of the club that the University had rented out for us two nights later, dance, and well me being an idiot for the points.

Also on that day we got to walk around the city while it wasn't a formal tour that was supposed to happen the next day, it was a good way for me to take pictures of some important things in the city. Whether it be the City Hall building

A memorial to World War 2

This Statue of Santa and his interesting choice of  lamp/candle

or Some random store and its fake cow that it was using as advertisement
After we were done with the game type thing we went on to have dinner, in preparation to go to a bowling alley, where we played Pool, and bowled. Not only do I suck at bowling, but I'm not as good at pool as I had previously thought. Even with my struggles to anything well when it came to either of those games the night was still very enjoyable. After Bowling was over, we went to an Irish pub, where I hung out for about hour, before I remember that I had to get back and watch the Vikings game. Which well went pretty well for the Vikings, at least this one went. I felt bad for my neighbors afterwards considering how loud my reaction to the Minneapolis Miracle was. That excitement for the Vikings was short lived of course because well the Eagles game happened.

Well that was the first week. I will finish the next to days of the Intro days in the next post.
